Touched

Touched is name and inspiration of my 4th semester term garment for FIT. Our given theme was recycle, reuse, repurpose. During the pandemic we had to isolate and lock down. Given, I am a very social person, this time in isolation proved to be challenging for me from the loss of physical human interactions and physical touch.

I decided to take the comfort that came from our beds such as the fabric I had from pillow cases, pajamas, bed sheets, an old duvet and blankets to make this dress.

I first cut out pieces of all these different fabrics and patched them together, then I took the patched pieces and quilted them onto the used duvet to replicate this bed/comfort feeling. I wanted this dress to be fun and lively to contrast the mental struggles that the pandemic brought.
